Gary was a quiet fellow, not one to be noticed but always respected. Gary was a Volunteer Firefighter with the Terra Linda Volunteer Fire Department. I don't remember when I first met Gary but it had to be in the early sixties. I remember in Vallecito Gary was picked on by bullies because he was so shy. One day Gary had had enough and cold-cocked someone who had been pushing him around. It wasn't a barnyard brawl but a lightling fast movement on Gary's part that send the bully to the ground and then to the school nurse. I was taken back by the explosion of controled energy that Gary displayed. Turns out that as long as I'd known Gary, I never knew he was an expert in karate. Gary found a new respect and was never picked on again.

This is a picture of Gary from the 1967 TLHS yearbook as he did not have a 1968 senior photo. RIP Gary.
