Mary Mattson La Prevotte conacted me to report that John Colette passed away in Naples, Florida on August 27, 2024 from brain cancer. Mary is a good friend of John's sister, Vicki. John was in remission for awhile and then the cancer returned. John is survived by his wife, Mila, daughter, Nicole and sister, Vicki Colette Metsger. Rest in peace, John.
John and I were classmates at Gallinas School in Santa Venetia. He arrived in our class in 5th grade and made a big splash as the new boy in school. He was cute, fun and friendly and gave Bill Saleme and Jim Walker some stiff competition with the girls in our class of 30 which was the only 5th grade at Gallinas. Most of us travelled together through Santa Venetia Junior High School and then T. L. John and I talked on the phone a few times over the years, the last time right after his baby girl, Nicole, was born. We also emailed several times in the past 5 years where we wrote about grammar and junior high memories. He is the person who reported to me about Gary Bailey's passing so I could enter him in memory on this site. He always sounded so proud, happy and blessed to have a wonderful wife and daughter. Rest in peace my childhood friend.
